Turfs

Mac desktop fences that stay put through Show Desktop

Automation

Visit

Turfs brings Windows-style desktop fences to macOS: labeled areas on the desktop that hold files, folders, or shortcuts, organized by project, folder source, or tag. The fences persist through Show Desktop and display changes, so your organization survives the actions that normally scatter everything. It is a one-time purchase for $29, built by Bloo Software.

The Mac desktop is either empty or a junk drawer, and the junk drawer happens because there is no intermediate structure between clean and chaos. Turfs adds the structure.

The fences surviving Show Desktop is what makes this worth paying for. Every other desktop organization attempt falls apart the first time you hit F11 or change displays. I have been using it for a few weeks and the desktop still looks the way I set it up, which has never happened before. The $29 one-time price is reasonable for something that runs all day.
