SOUND
1 commentThe first launch from SOUND
SOUND is a Mac menu bar app that gives every playing application its own 8-band equalizer, volume control, and output device routing. Audio processing stays on-device with no virtual audio drivers. Set Spotify to the speakers, route Zoom to headphones, and EQ each one independently without touching system preferences or restarting apps. Free, no account required, and it needs macOS 26 or later. Built by Fekry Aiad under the CPL OF MNGS label.

The macOS audio model assumes every app shares one output device and one system EQ. That works until you want Spotify on the speakers and Zoom in the headphones without switching devices mid-call, or you want the music to have more bass than the podcast.
SOUND routes and equalizes each app separately, and the no-virtual-driver design means you do not need to restart everything or teach each app about a new audio device. The on-device processing is the other selling point: nothing gets uploaded, and the latency stays low because the Mac is doing the work locally. I have not tested it with more than three apps playing at once. The first thing I would check is whether the per-app EQ holds up when you have Spotify, Zoom, Slack, and a browser all outputting audio at the same time, or whether the CPU load becomes noticeable.
