ShroomPen is a browser extension that adds AI writing help inside any text box on the web. Select text and it can reply, rewrite, fix grammar, or translate without leaving the page or opening a separate tool. It works in email, social media, docs, and forums, triggered by a keyboard shortcut or a right-click menu. The extension uses your own API keys, so no data passes through a third-party service.

I have wanted this exact tool for two years and kept not building it myself. Every writing assistant makes you copy text out, paste it somewhere else, then paste the result back. ShroomPen does it in place.
The BYOK model is what convinced me to install it. I do not want every text box on the internet routing through a vendor. The keyboard shortcut works reliably, which is not a given for browser extensions. The translation feature is better than I expected — it keeps the tone when it rewrites, which most translation tools do not.
I live in Ads Manager comments, Gmail, and client WhatsApp Web all day, and copying text out just to polish a reply gets old fast. In-place rewrite with my own API key is exactly what I wanted. Does the shortcut work inside Facebook Business Suite message boxes, or do some sites block extensions from reading the field?
