NotchPop
1 commentThe first launch from NotchPop
NotchPop is a Mac utility that puts quick actions and information into the notch area at the top of newer MacBook screens, so the black strip becomes a shortcut bar instead of dead space. It shows widgets, controls, and system stats where they are visible but out of the way. Runs as a native macOS app, requiring macOS 12 or later on MacBooks with the notch. Built by Tejas Telkar.

The notch on a MacBook is either something you train yourself not to see, or it is space that could be doing something. NotchPop treats it as the latter.
What made me stop was how it fits the workflow of someone who already uses keyboard shortcuts for everything. The notch is visible but high enough that it does not interrupt the document you are reading. I have not run it on a long project yet. The first thing I would check is whether the widgets stay responsive when the system is under load, or if they lag the way menu bar items sometimes do.
