NOAN
1 commentThe first launch from NOAN
NOAN is a note-taking app where the notes organize themselves based on what you write, without requiring you to decide on folders or tags up front. It uses AI to understand the content, link related notes, surface connections you did not notice, and keep the workspace manageable as the note count grows. The interface focuses on writing rather than organizing. Built by a founding team whose names are listed on the site's team page.

Every note-taking app starts with the promise that you will maintain the taxonomy, and every note pile ends with you searching through thousands of untagged entries. NOAN bets that the organization should happen automatically.
What made me stop was the focus on connections rather than hierarchy. The best notes apps surface what you wrote six months ago that turns out to be relevant today, and that is a search problem more than a filing problem. I have not used it long enough to see whether the auto-organization holds up when the note count passes a few hundred. The first thing I would check is whether it handles notes that genuinely do not belong together, or whether it forces connections that do not exist.
