Lightmeter

Pocket film camera with a real light meter, zero AI

Photography

Visit

Lightmeter is a film camera simulation app that includes a working light meter, authentic grain processing, and manual controls that behave the way a mechanical camera does. It shoots photos that look like they were taken on film, with no AI enhancement or computational photography involved. The processing happens entirely on the phone, nothing is uploaded. Aimed at photographers who want the film aesthetic without the film cost or the digital look of a default camera app.

Every phone camera now applies so much processing that the photos look like they were taken by the same device, which they were. Lightmeter goes the other direction: it gives you manual control and grain processing that looks like film.

The working light meter is the part I did not expect. Most film simulation apps fake the aesthetic but let you shoot the same way you always do. This one makes you measure the scene first, which changes how you take the photo. I am not convinced I want to slow down that much, but the photos it produces do not look like phone photos, which is the point.
