Greypaint
1 commentThe first launch from Greypaint
Greypaint checks Sparkle, Homebrew, GitHub, and the App Store, and answers in one list. Every Mac app shows up with its current version, the version available, and a single Update button. It includes rollback if an update breaks something, autopilot mode for hands-off updates, and major-version flags so you can hold back when a new release might change behavior. 14-day free trial, then $6.49 lifetime, no subscription.

One updater for every Mac app from Sparkle, Homebrew, GitHub and the App Store, with rollback.
I keep four different updaters running, and I still miss things. Homebrew handles CLI tools but knows nothing about the apps I got from GitHub releases. The App Store updates its own catalog and ignores everything else. Sparkle apps update themselves, except when they do not, and I only notice when something breaks.
Greypaint puts all of it in one list. The rollback feature is the part I keep thinking about: most updaters let you move forward, but if the new version is broken, you are reading issue trackers to find the last working build. I have not tested the autopilot mode yet. The first thing I would check is whether it handles version conflicts gracefully when Homebrew and the App Store both think they own the same app, or whether it tries to update both and leaves you with a mess.
