carrier-explode
1 comment
carrier-explode pulls the carrier settings out of iPhone, Pixel and Galaxy firmware, decodes them and lets you compare them. Look up any carrier's APNs, VoLTE, Wi-Fi Calling and 5G support on each phone, pick the features you need and see which carriers have them, or diff two builds or two carriers to see what changed. Everything is available as JSON from an API or as a daily CC0 dataset, and a wiki explains each format. Open source on GitHub, by Alec Dusheck.

Carrier settings decide whether Wi-Fi Calling or 5G works on your phone, and they live inside firmware blobs nobody reads. carrier-explode turns them into pages you can search and compare across iPhone, Pixel and Galaxy, plus a free daily dataset. Very useful the next time a carrier swears your phone is the problem. alec@simplyalec.com is the author email on the public commits of https://github.com/AlecDusheck/carrier-explode (Alec Dusheck, simplyalec on Hacker News, who posted the Show HN).
