What we collect, why we collect it, and how to get rid of it.

Updated 26 August 2026

What we collect

  • Your account. Name, email address and profile picture from Google when you sign in. A username we generate, and anything you add to your profile.
  • What you do here. Launches, signals, comments, reviews, threads, follows and collections. Most of this is public by design — that is what the site is.
  • Views and presence. We count one view per person per day on launches, threads and product pages. If you are signed in that is keyed to your account; if you are not, it is keyed to a salted hash of your request that we cannot reverse into a person.
  • Newsletter subscriptions. Your email address and which titles you take.

We do not run third-party advertising trackers. We do use Vercel Analytics to count page views: it sets no cookies, follows nobody between sites, and reports totals rather than people. Promoted placements are served by us, and we count impressions and clicks in aggregate, not per person.

Why

To run the account, show your contributions with your name on them, rank the board, send the newsletters you asked for, and tell advertisers how many people saw a placement.

Who else touches it

  • Vercel — hosting and logs.
  • Neon — the database.
  • Google — sign-in, if you use it.

How long we keep it

Your account for as long as you have one. Public contributions stay after an account is closed, because deleting a comment tears a hole in a conversation other people had — but they stop carrying your name. Board archives and awards are permanent by design.

What you can ask for

A copy of your data, a correction, or deletion of your account. Email hello@earlyhound.com from the address on the account and we will do it.

You can leave any newsletter from the newsletters page without losing the account.

Cookies

A session cookie so you stay signed in. Nothing else.

Changes

Material changes get a note in the changelog rather than a silent edit to this page.
